"I worry about overextending myself. This workshop
helped me realize that isn't necessary."
We all run into people experiencing a mental health crisis in our neighborhood, at work, on the bus or in our apartment buildings.
When we see someone in crisis, we can get activated too and have difficulty knowing how to be helpful.
Helping someone in crisis can feel messy and chaotic. That’s ok!
Healing is relational - people in crisis need to be seen, heard, affirmed, encouraged.
Workshop will include:
Principles of crisis work
Understanding the nervous system
Peer support principles
Emotional regulation and deescalation skills
How to safety plan
Application: vignette or role play

Workshop Feedback :
"I am grounding in the call to offer support that makes someone in crisis feel seen and heard. Grateful for the reminder to refrain from trying to fix without consent or rush towards a solution. It's enough to meet somewhere where they are at, as simple as offering a glass of water, communicating with the needs of the body not the rational mind."
"Crisis care isn't all or nothing. Not being able to solve all the problems. It was useful to set boundaries around what I can and cannot help with, knowing even a little can be enough."
